Two day Excursions
Prosperous Saxony
Fine porcelain in Meissen, the historical metropolis of Dresden and modern plant breeding at the Deutsche Saatveredelung DSV (German plant breeding company): a two-day guided tour through the Southeast of Germany.
Starting in Prague, enjoy a luxurious coach trip to our first stop in Meissen, the porcelain metropolis of Europe. Delight in Europe's unique collection of Meissen porcelain dating from 1710 to the present day, and enjoy the typical regional cuisine served on real Meissen porcelain after the guided tour.
In the afternoon, our next stop is Dresden, Saxony's metropolis. A guided tour through the Old City takes you past the Zwinger, the Semperoper, the castle featuring the Fürstenzug mural (Procession of the Princes), the world-famous Frauenkirche and Brühl's Terrace. Experience the heart of Dresden amongst the conflicting worlds of the traditional and the modern, of Renaissance, Barock and the modern enthusiasm for new development. Round off the day on the river Elbe with culinary treats on board a historical paddle steamer as you pass the picturesque Elbe castles.
On the second day, you can look forward to a technically challenging programme at the Deutsche Saatveredelung Leutewitz AG. Here you can gain a professional insight into high-quality German rapeseed breeding. Following the guided tour through the factory, we will be returning to Prague, from where you can start your homeward journey.
